Political Involvement and Advocacy Month ("PIA" Month)

An Opportunity for PIA Members to Become More Active in the Politics That Shape Their Lives

2008's PIA Month may be over, but it's not too late to get involved politically. Please read on for ideas about how you can become politically active and spread the views of Main Street insurance agents. Please note that the dates and some specific calls to actions have already passed.

While PIA's District Lobbying Day is a nationwide series of in-district visits with Members of Congress, Political Involvement and Advocacy Month serves as an opportunity for each PIA member to become more active in the politics that shape their lives, and to continue that involvement into the future.

PIA Month will consist of a series of suggested activities you can engage in locally, to support and form relationships with your elected officials and federal candidates. Below you'll find a series of suggestions in a calendar format, but what you choose to do and when you choose to do them is completely up to you and the schedules of your Congressman, Senators and candidates.

Whether you do something simple like fly an American flag or volunteer to work in a phone bank, the important thing is just to get involved. The more PIA members get to know and speak with their elected officials, and become part of the political process, the better agents will fare in legislation that could have dramatic consequences on their businesses and their lives.

We want to hear from you! If you do take part in an advocacy activity, whether it's listed below or not, we want to know about it. Please submit your feedback using our online Advocacy Activity Feedback Form.
