Former PIA National Director Lewis L. Wilson, CIC, CPIA, CPCU, accepted a joint commendation from New York State Senate Insurance Chair James L. Seward (R) and Assembly Insurance Chair Joseph D. Morelle (D) on May 13, during the board meeting of PIA of New York. The commendation recognizes his work on behalf of PIA in forwarding the public’s interest in insurance matters in New York state.

Wilson has served PIA National as national director, chairman of the PIA National Government Affairs Committee and chairman of PIAPAC. He was instrumental in the creation of the annual PIA National Young Insurance Professional Award in 2005 and advocated for formation of a national YIP organization. In February of this year, the PIA National Young Insurance Professionals Advisory Council held its inaugural meeting. In addition, Wilson has served PIA of New York in a number of different leadership positions, ranging from president of the association to legislative chairman and PAC chairman.
