A new survey shows that more than half of all Americans consider talking on the phone and texting the most dangerous distractions while driving. But 81 percent of those responding to the survey acknowledged that they made calls while driving.
Surprisingly the survey, conducted by Nationwide Insurance, also found that older drivers were more likely than teens to multitask when driving. That could be because older drivers are more focused on juggling responsibilities, says Kathryn Lusby-Treber, formerly the executive director of the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety. “And because they’re more experienced, older drivers feel like they don’t have to pay as much attention as teens.”
