Losses From May Midwest Storms Could Cost $850 Million

 

Insured losses are expected to reach $850 million from late-May storms that hit seven Midwest states, according to the Insurance Services Office. ISO’s Property Claims Services estimated 10,000 claims have been filed in Iowa alone, where a tornado did significant damage to the city of Parkersburg. The twister was rated EF5, the highest mark on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. In Iowa, PCS estimates property damage of $160 million.
