Agent to Agent: Educating Your Audience, One Blog Post at a Time

As an agent, you may not always know where to begin when you sit down to write a blog post for your website. I know first-hand how tough it can be! However, there is no need to over think. There is plenty to be said about insurance—and plenty of ways to educate your audience. While a creative and fun post is a great way to break up the monotony of insurance, sometimes all it takes is a well though-out educational article. In fact, most of your visitors may be looking for answers. After all, they are there to make a purchase—why not help them to make a smart purchase?

Here are just a few ideas that will help you to educate your audience:

  1. Explain coverage. Who knows more about insurance than you? It is time to prove your expertise and write about what you know. Answer a few FAQs and put them on the blog. It is fresh content and it will surely come in handy to viewers who may be “lost” when it comes to the insurance process.
  2. Share company news. Are there big things happening at your agency? Take time to announce changes, discounts, and deals. If you do so on a regular basis, you may build a following.
  3. Share ways to save. Who doesn’t like savings? Not all of your clients or prospects understand how insurance discounts work. Each week, write a post about how you can save on a particular policy. This could make a great blog post series.


While you may not consider yourself to be a content and writing expert, you ARE an expert when it comes to insurance. Share your expertise! If you want to get interactive with your clients, post questions on your Facebook and Twitter pages: What do you want to know about insurance? What questions do you have about insurance policies? See your fans and followers reactions and read through their questions. If you notice that this is working on your social pages, make a conscious effort to ask each week or even once a month. Once you write the blog post, blast it out on social sites for viewers to see.

Blogging is a wonderful tool to brand your agency. Brand yourself as the expert. Prove to your clients that your agency has the answers and the solutions. Once you begin educating your clients through your blogging efforts, you may find that sitting down to write a post got a whole lot easier.
