Agent to Agent: Why Setting Goals Will Benefit Your Agency

As an insurance agent, it is important to set goals for yourself and your team. Whether this involves attracting a new set of clients, being able to establish discounts for customers on auto insurance, or becoming more active in the community, you will be creating a strong work ethic to be admired. Striving towards a goal will give you the ability to take control, the opportunity to open more doors, and a chance to feel proud of your accomplishment.

According to the site Great Leaders Serve, there are many reasons why setting goals are important. When done correctly, the benefits of doing so will be seen. The following list is a reminder to you and your agency as to why setting a goal should be embraced and not feared:

  • Brings Your Agency Together – Setting the right kind of goal will allow for support from your entire team. Their investment will make the outcome much more rewarding and encourage a stronger work ethic.
  • Outlines Clearer Priorities – Before, your priorities may have been all over the place due to lack of organization. But once you learn to set goals, you will be able to place items of importance at the top of your list. For example, if you have a specific goal in mind, such as selling a particular number of premiums in a month, your team will understand the priority you place on selling your products.
  • Holds Everyone Accountable – Establishing the goal is only the first step. After, you need to hold others accountable within your agency to help complete the goal. If certain milestones are not being met, adjustments may be necessary.
  • A Deadline Keeps the Energy Up – At the outset of a goal, it is important to set a deadline. This will keep you and your team motivated to reach the end and avoid inactivity. By moving forward steadily, you may also begin to see who is most reliable on your team in certain areas.
  • Creates a Sense of Accomplishment – Goals take hard work and energy to complete. If you are working towards creating more affordable CA auto insurance, then it is important to meet your target for your customers and the morale of your team. Once the goal is reached, everyone can celebrate this great accomplishment!
