Agent to Agent: Take Action in 2014: Sticking to Your Agency's New Year's Resolution

Can you believe the New Year is among us again? Time really flies when your agency is busy making strides in the world of digital marketing. As an agency owner, I know how hard it may be to stick to a plan. At times, it may seem downright impossible to manage your agency while working on personal improvement in the internet marketing world. However, the right determination can help you to stick to your plan—or New Year’s Resolution! Now is the perfect time to commit and act, whether you vow to spend more time on social media or post a blog on your website each week.

Allow me to share three of my favorite tips—tips that may help you stick to your agency’s New Year’s Resolution.

Tip #1: Stay Committed

How do you commit? Let’s take the resolution of being more active on social media for example. You sign up for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and every other social media channel out there. You tell yourself that you are committed to changing and take the first step to do so. Yes, the first step is signing up! If you commit by signing up, you are moving in the right direction. Once you are committed to implementing a solution, you can then move on to Tip #2.

Tip #2: Take Action

Anyone can create a website, a social page, a blog, etc. However, if you do not continue to work on these strategies, you are not going to get anywhere. A Facebook page will mean nothing if you are not consistently posting and reaching out to the community. A blog without content is not going to serve its purpose, let alone look professional. Folks, this is the most important piece of the puzzle. If there is absolutely no action behind the commitment, you will not make an impact in the insurance industry and your internet marketing strategy will suffer.

Tip #3: Measure Your Success

Once you begin your new strategy, it is important to take a look at metrics to measure your success. Take a look at your agency’s blog. Are the topics engaging? Are you using the right keywords? Are you choosing the right “call to action” phrases? Head over to the social side of things. Are you posting on Facebook and Twitter every day? Are people interacting? Are YOU interacting? Are you getting leads from these posts? There are HUNDREDS of questions that you can and SHOULD be asking yourself as an agency owner.

Measuring company metrics will ultimately lead to positive changes and success. It is a way to see what it working and what is not working. Being aware of these metrics is the first step to overcoming agency obstacles and setbacks.
