The Maryland General Assembly passed a bill that will help establish a framework for the federally mandated state health insurance exchange. The House of Delegates and the state Senate voted on March 26 on the measure that builds on legislation passed last year to create the health insurance marketplace. The initiative sets up standards and regulations to run the program. But critics of the reform say the state is moving too fast, because the law is being appealed in the U. S. Supreme Court.
