2017 PIA Federal Legislative Summit a Success!
Members of PIA from around the country came to Washington, D.C., on April 5 and 6, to participate in the time-honored tradition of petitioning their elected representatives. The agents took part in a successful 2017 PIA Federal Legislative Summit (FLS).
FLS participants visited with their Representatives and Senators on Capitol Hill, advocating for PIA’s positions on a range of issues including: defending state insurance regulation; abolishing the Federal Insurance Office (FIO); and providing a long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
PIA members also discussed the need for a strong and stable crop insurance program as part of the 2018 Farm Bill; reinstating fair and just compensation in healthcare; and supporting a clear and simple tax code, with a reduction in individual and corporate income tax rates for small businesses.
On the first day of the FLS, an issues briefing was conducted, followed by a fundraising event for the Professional Insurance Agents Political Action Committee (PIAPAC).
