Agent to Agent: Getting Closer to Prospects One Tweet at a Time

Ever wonder how to get a positive ROI from your insurance agency’s Twitter account? We’ve got some tactics for getting closer to your prospects, one Tweet at a time. These tactics helped our insurance agency attract 160 followers, not a bad benchmark for the insurance industry.

Here are some tips:

  1. Follow your partners and re-Tweet their posts. This could encourage them to re-Tweet your posts, which could help you gain more followers and/or help disseminate your messages to a different audience.
  2. Follow local restaurants and businesses, even if they aren’t your partners, to build community. Who knows, they could follow you back and re-Tweet a post that could drive traffic back to your site.
  3. Follow local nonprofits and news stations, newspapers, etc.
  4. Blitz your Twitter with posts at least once or twice per week.
  5. Post not only things you believe your clients and prospects might find interesting, but also things that showcase your agency’s personality and interests.
  6. Posts can include local or national news you find interesting, lifestyle type posts, re-Tweeted posts from other local businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, news organizations.

Most importantly, whether your agency sells California employee benefits, health insurance, dental insurance, or vision insurance for employees or individuals, it’s important to always to promote onsite blog posts on Twitter. This could not only drive traffic to your blog posts, it could also encourage re-Tweets, which send a “social signal” to the search engines and can improve your site’s overall SEO.
