The PIA Disaster Relief Fund

PIA Disaster Relief Fund Reopens

When disasters strike, PIA members are there to help, providing assistance.

As a result of the damage caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, the PIA Disaster Relief Fund has been reactivated. The PIA Insurance Foundation is providing disaster assistance grants to Main Street business owners who were affected by these mega storms of 2017.

The PIA Disaster Relief Fund is soliciting charitable donations and providing relief grants to Main Street businesses that may be facing gaps in the insurance coverages or other assistance available to them. Funds are available in areas of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands covered by Federal or state declarations of disaster related to these weather events.

“PIA has a long history of providing charitable disaster aid to Main Street business owners when extraordinary events overtake the individual operations’ ability to respond on their own,” said PIA National Executive Vice President & CEO Mike Becker. “When disaster strikes, the PIA Insurance Foundation steps up to help, by soliciting funds and accepting grant applications.”

Details regarding application criteria are listed below.

The PIA Insurance Foundation is a licensed as an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Funds in this grant program are for those who face serious gaps among insurance coverages (where applicable), FEMA grant/aid funds, and funds available from other government and/or charitable organizations. Our goal is to support quicker and more complete recovery for Main Street businesses after such events, which in turn help to create more successful and resilient communities going forward.
